Diet of Sex Article banned by Wikipedia
The feature film Diet of Sex is a Spanish movie directed by Borja Brun. Its world premiere took place at the PollyGrind Underground Film Festival in Las Vegas in 2013. [2]
Production [edit]
Diet of Sex was conceived by Borja Brun as an adult romantic comedy in which explicit sex scenes formed an integral part of the plot. As the director explained to CINeol, the project intended to combine intimacy and humor in a couples story. [1]
During the project's development, a survey of 60 people was conducted to assess and adjust product presentation aspects prior to public release. Subsequently, a private test screening with 42 viewers was held to evaluate duration, acting, sound design, musical score, and plot clarity. Brun confirmed that the test screening feedback was used to fine-tune the final cut. [1]
The casting process was transparent from the outset: the film would feature authentic unsimulated intimacy. Brun explained that rehearsals lasted one month and that intimate sequences were rehearsed during that period, directed as a standard element of dramatic acting.
Brun noted that the film was crafted both as an audiovisual and physical experience. The physical edition featured an embossed tin metal box housing the DVD, designed for private consumption by couples. CINeol reported that the DVD included extensive bonus materials, such as interviews, outtakes, extended scenes, and a documentary making-of. [1]
Premiere and distribution [edit]
The film premiered at the 4th edition of the PollyGrind Film Festival in Las Vegas. The festival schedule listed Diet of Sex (71 min, Spain) in the midnight slot of October 11, 2013, expressly identifying it as a «World Premiere» and Borja Brun as its director. [2]
DVD Release [edit]
The commercial release in Spain took place via DVD on February 14, 2014 (Valentine's Day), followed by distribution handled through Thagson under an international licensing deal. [3][4]
Plot [edit]
Ágata is a woman suffering from anhedonia, a psychological condition preventing her from experiencing pleasure in everyday life. A serendipitous encounter with Marc ignites a relationship where he attempts to help her reconnect with sensation through the intimate sensory connection between gourmet food and sexuality. [5]
Media coverage [edit]
In 2016, cultural journalist Javier Zurro featured Diet of Sex in a dedicated report for national newspaper El Español analyzing screenwriting in adult cinema. The article cited the film as a prominent example of cinematic productions integrating unsimulated sex within a narrative structure planned and written from conception. [6]
Brun explained in the piece that intimate scenes were meticulously choreographed beforehand to establish camera movement and angles, treating sexuality with the same dramatic rigor as dialogue or narrative drama. [6]
Academic reference [edit]
Diet of Sex has since been analyzed in academic film literature regarding explicit cinema. In 2022, scholar Oliver Kenny examined the film in his paper Breaking Conventions? Political Ideology of Films With Explicit Sex, published in peer-reviewed journal Open Screens. [7]
